Listen Alaska

I was recently introduced to Listen Alaska which is the online audiobook check out system through out Alaskan Public Libraries. It requires the use of a piece of software called OverDrive which downloaded and installed without any difficulty. I then began browsing the selection. It certainly isn’t as robust as that found at Audible, but it did have a few titles that were on my wish list so I checked them out and the system worked slick. If you are looking for an additional source for audiobooks in between your monthly Audible fix this is indeed a viable option in Alaska. I am certain other states have similar programs so ask your librarian how you would go about accessing audiobooks online. I suspect they will have a program and if they don’t tell them to check out Listen Alaska’s website.

The_7_Habits_of_Highly_Effective_People

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey

My review

rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book was not what I thought it was going to be... It is MUCH MUCH MORE!

This is a book that I am going to need to review on a yearly basis if not more frequently. It is chalk full of practical principles that are working as I apply them. I know I missed more than I picked up this time through. However, that is to be expected when you are learning something that changes how you think about how you think.

Shadow Divers - 5.0 Stars

Shadow Divers: The True Adventure of Two Americans Who Risked Everything to Solve One of the Last Mysteries of World War II Shadow Divers: The True Adventure of Two Americans Who Risked Everything to Solve One of the Last Mysteries of World War II by Robert Kurson

My review

rating: 5 of 5 stars
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is a very passion filled story of two men's quest to discover the past and set the record straight. It is marred by tragedy and blessed with triumph. It is part mystery, history and has a tinge of adventure threaded through out for good measure. It is a well-paced narrative and worth of anyone's time who is remotely interested in deep sea diving or U-boats!

The DaVinci Code - 5.0 Stars

The Da Vinci Code The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown

My review

rating: 5 of 5 stars
I ENJOYED THIS BOOK! It keep me on my toes and not sure which direction to jump. I enjoyed the interplay between the characters and the villian was not the man I suspected.

This was my first Dan Brown book. So perhaps that is why I enjoyed it so much.

Deception Point - 3.0 Stars

Deception Point Deception Point by Dan Brown

My review

rating: 3 of 5 stars
A good story and plot. Yet it lacked something. It feels like Dan has a cookie cutter book here. A worthy read but it wasn't riviting like The DaVinci Code by any streach.

A New Year a New Look...

I just joined Goodreads.com and they have a simple cut and paste link for every review that I right. Therefore there will be more posts from me as this is a simpler system for me as I don't have to bounce between three different sites to create the post I am trying to structure. Enjoy your Audible listning! Happy New Year to you all!
