The Virtues of Audible

I am an addicted Audible.com subscriber. Nearly 5 years ago I discovered Audible. I signed up for one of their older plans that granted me 2 audio titles every month for $19.95. Since that day I have purchased over, 500 titles. If you do the math on that you can see I have bought more than my average 2 titles a month (120 titles) you can see I have acquired over 400 additional titles in that time. Though that is usually due to one of their SMOKIN' HOT SALES, like the last one that had over 100 titles for $5.49!!! Considering the average price of these were over $20 at regular price you can see that that is a very good deal. Twenty-five percent off is usually considered a good deal, however, purchasing a great audio book for 25%, is just flat AWESOME!

They have a huge selection of fresh new titles and more importantly they are always adding classics. Search their site and if you don't find it, it likely isn't available online, save one very glaring exception, Harry Potter. Though I am sure that once the last movie comes out and the licensing has simmered down that it too will become available. Seriously though that is the ONLY new book I haven't been able to find at Audible, that I have looked to purchase. Older series they are "ACTIVELY" acquiring the rights for on a daily basis.

I would ask a favor if you try out their FREE Trial. Enter my user id: iceworm72. Audible is generous to its referring subscribers. They will give me a free audio book if you decide you like what you see. And I for one can always us another audio book! My wish list is over 300 books in length.

Seriously I love this service!

Brisinger - 5 Stars

The latest installment of the Inheritance Cycle, entitled Brisinger, is a fine addition to the series. The seven promises that Eragon and Saphira fulfill are quite an interesting tale. Christopher Paolini has given us a fine new volume to enjoy. I strongly encourage you to give this audio book a listen. Gerald Doyle has as usual done a fine job with the voices.

The Case Against Barrack Obama - 5 Stars

This was a very well written and researched critical analysis of Barrack Obama on that basis I give it a 5 star rating. In spite of the negatives put out there by obviously prejudiced sources in Chicago to ban this book, it actually quite even handed and presented a fair analysis of who Barrack Obama really is after all the hype and razzle dazzle is removed. I found that some of my fears were justified and others were totally based in either half truths or in other cases political smear tactics. By the end of the book I found that while I dislike everything about Barrack Obama politically, he will likely not be the end of the world should he be elected. That said, if you are even remotely curious about who Barrack Obama is other than the perfect candidate that gives Kieth Obermann a cheap thrill in his pants leg, I would strongly recommend this book.

Where have I been...

I have been on a long hiatus, due to a very good audio book written by the BEST FINANCIAL GURU Dave Ramsey. Since I listened to this audio book, a friend gave me the unabridged version on CD, (Sadly Audible doesn't have that version available or the rest of his excellent books!).

After hearing the Common Sense approach to wealth in a world that is sinking in debt. I became convinced that I had to change what I was doing if I wanted something more out of life. It was 9 months ago that I took a second job to overcome the initial difficulty of getting my debt snowball rolling. I have given notice to my second job that I am done working the insanity so I should be able to catch my breath a bit. The net result is we have now paid off $16,308.47 in 11 months. I could work more but I believe balance is required not only in the financial but on the family side of the equation.

Since we are no longer in fear my running out of paycheck before we run out of month, due to the implementation of an effective and proven plan. We now have a budget that works. Though thy both are a work in progress as we learn how to overcome the habits that got us into the $34,116.96 worth of debt except for our house.
We are just about half way and what peace this whole money makeover thing has brought to our lives. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK (Audio and Print). Remember Cash is King and Debt is Dumb.
