A legend has passed from this world...
A sad day for Robert Jordan fans like myself. I just recently opened up his blog and read with sadness of his passing. My warmest wishes are passed to Harriet, Wilson and family. A ray of light has passed from view, yet a new in the future he shall be viewed.

New Spring - Robert Jordan - 5.0 Stars
I have recently restarted the Wheel of Time Series again. I decided to start with the prequel, this time around. I enjoyed it as usual.
The narrators for the book are the same a Micheal Kramer and Kate Reading as with the other audiobooks available from Audio Renaissance and Audible. They do their customary excellence in clearly differentiating each of the characters and bringing out the emotion of the moment. These two narrators are truly talented.
The one point that is slightly bothersome to me is the rather large leap between New Spring and The Eye of the World I hope that Robert, with be able to beat, as he hopes, the disease that is ravaging his body. I know it is a selfish reason but I really believe that a second prequel is called for to explain how Swan manages to be come Amerlin in a matter of 16 years! Her rise to power would be a very nice counter point to her fall in the later books and her continuing struggles.
I highly recommend all fo this 12 hours and 31 min audiobook.

Shadow Magic - 5.0 Stars
This was not a book that I purchased at audible; HOWEVER, it is available from Podiobooks.com thru Apple's iTune Store. This book is free to download and is worthy of being purchased for real money.
The story is excellent and the author reads the tale with passion that brings each of the character's to life. The tale is full of comedy with a few serious thoughts interspersed. It takes place in the an Irish fairy tale land, known as Ternanog; yet, the main character is an 18-year-old from our modern world. Half the comedy is his attempts to make a witty joke that references something from the real world that nobody in the "land" understands.
The story itself is quite enjoyable and is well crafted. It is clear that this was a labor of love for the author as the dedication at the end makes known. It is a great coming of age story and completely kid friendly. There is nothing in the story that I found objectionable.

The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey - 5.0 Stars
WOW!
This is a powerful book about our finances today. I found hope inside this book in a way that I have not in countless other "financial solution" books. Dave is a brilliant commentator with the real world smarts of experience to back up his statements.
I began my own Total Money Makeover after listening to this book. It has helped me to understand what it is that I didn't learn in school or the 20 years since about finances and why "I am doing ok!" just isn't ever going to get any better. The reason is clear and I feel it is best summed up by a quote by another genius, Albert Einstein.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Utilizing, Dave's six simple steps has allowed me to totally reorganize my financial life in a way that has allowed me to cut up my credit card and live life in a manner that is fiscally responsible. I am have completed step one and am now working step to with "gazelle" intensity. It has allowed me to create a realistic plan to become 100% debt free in SEVEN YEARS' time with over 20,000 dollars in the bank. WOW!
Mind you this is no get rich quick plan! It is a plan that require work! Yes, I said the four letter word. But trust me Dave's plan is easy to understand and even better, it is a workable plan. Ultimately all I can tell you in this short review is that this book is AN ABSOLUTE MUST BUY!

10 Quick Steps to Blogging - 4 Stars
I felt this an ironic choice for the first post to this new blog. It is a review of an audiobook on blogging, called 10 Quick Steps to Blogging by Bryan Hoff and read by David Lawrence the creator of the 10 Quick Steps series.
I enjoyed this production. It was straight forward and clearly presented. I am hopeful that by using the suggestions offered that there will be more than a few of you reading this and all future posts to this blog. In any event it was very educational in a simplified version and that in itself is golden. The narration was of superb quality with no gaffs to be noted. It is what you would expect from such a professional as David Lawrence. His 10 Quick Steps series is exactly what it purports to be 10 Quick Steps.
The only negative I have for this title at Audible was in finding the same title available for $9.95 at the iTunes Store when I uploaded the title to my iPod; considering I paid $20.00 for it at Audible.com. This is one of the rare times that I have not been happy with the pricing I have gotten from Audible. It appears to be the case with ALL of 10 Quick Steps series. I suspect there is a reason for that but I have not been able to discover it in my browsing today.
Regardless, it is a worthwhile title! Though I would likely buy future 10 Quick Steps series audiobooks from iTune rather than Audible.
