Words of Radiance - 5 Stars!

Having finished volume two of the Stormlight Archive I am even more impressed with Brandon Sanderson as an author.  This book drew me in from the beginning and held me in a state of concern or frustration depending upon the character and their decisions.   There are many things that change over the course of this book especially for Kaliden and Shalan, both are now closer than ever to becoming what they must become to become true Knights Radiant.   The whole story is one with many twists and turns.  That will bring you face to face with the past and the ramifications of the decisions that people make.  The changes are too many to break out into a list at this moment and given that the book hasn't been out for a month yet I will not toss spoilers out.  I will simply say you need to read this book!  It is absolutely worth the time you will put into getting through this tale of despair, triumph, agony, pleasure and discovery.

The Way of Kings

The re-listen to The Way of Kings has Begun in anticipation of Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson.    Forty-five hours total massive and filled with twists and questions yet unanswered it still is interesting the second time through.  I should finish right around the  March 3rd releases date.

Kaliden is my favorite character of this series so far.  His story is compelling and holds deep emotional currents.   His relationship with Sil is the only thing holding him at one point which makes the tale all the more interesting.

Tavia Gilbert is Wonderful!

My wife and I have be thoroughly enjoying the rich diverse range of Tavares Gilbert narrate the Night Huntress series over the last month.   It was such a pleasure and so vivid that when one ended we had to go buy the next novel in Janenne Frost's well written tale about Kat and Bones.  We spent money that is normally use on Redbox movies to utilize the Amazon Whispersync deals to get the next installment of the tale and our enjoyment was always increased by Tavia's intense emotional demonstrated as she wove the words into a compelling adventure of increasing interest.

This is an audiobook series that is well worth the time and money.  It is not without its thorns but that is my take on the need to skip the one obligatory scene of smoldering sex.  Which the author gratefully contains in one easy to skip chapter for those of us who don't need a bedroom seen for such marital activities!   Reguardless, the story is compelling and listening is pure joy with moments filled by other emotions tempered and flavored by the experience of Tavia reverberating in you ears!

Guerrilla Marketing for the Home-Based Business - 4 Stars

UNABRIDGED By Jay Levinson , Seth Godin Narrated By Barrett Whitener First, I have to say that I wasn't pleased by someone other than Seth reading this book. That said the narrator was efficient and I wouldn't mind listening to him again on another audio. It is just a personal preference once I have heard an author read I like to hear them keep doing it. I have become spoiled in that regard. There is so much value in the author reading a book like this. They deliver the passion that is important. I have had numerous exposures to the mental processes that underpin the Guerrilla Marketing idea of Jay Levinson and I see great value in them. This book needs to be updated and revised. After all, who has a pager anymore??? (That is what email and text messages on your mobile phone is all about)!!! Fax??? (Yes, the company I work for still has one but it IS NOT a primary communications tool anymore)!!! There are some real gems as well that will translate well into email and social media activities, but you will have to make the intuitive leap. These gems are the real world examples of Guerilla Marketing. The stories are awesome and well worth the cost of this audiobook and the outdated content. It just isn’t a home run given its dated nature. So overall, I recommend the book but if you are looking for something to make an impact right now, I would recommend, The Thank You Economy by Gary Vaynerchuk. This title is more in line with the status of valuable reference, (you really should give it a listen there is value here), but not current to the trends of this decade or the next. My final statement it is dated material, but still contains great value...

Crush It!: Why NOW Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion - 5 Stars

Initially, I was put off having never heard of Gary Vaynerchuk before picking up this audiobook on title value alone. It seemed to resonate in my mind. The thank you thank you routine in the first few minutes annoyed me but what I came to realize by the end of the book is that this is who Gary really is at heart. Which might explain the title of his next book (which I am currently enjoying tremendously), The Thank You Economy. If you are thinking about changing how you live and do business, this book is a MUST READ. I found his straight shooting narrative to be well worth incorporating into my business plans. What I found to be of even more value as the book progressed was his unique take on narrating his own book. He adds value to his audiobook by mentioning what may have changed since he wrote the book and he explains other topics in more detail, because that is how he rolls as he put it. I think the title says it all. CRUSH IT! is a passionate advocate for rethinking how you "DO" what you do for a living. I have bookmarked this audiobook, (a great feature by the way and kudos to the Audible team for developing it), and revisited it numerous times. He lays out a clear plan of action at the end of the book and is clearly an expert in this arena! Gary also articulated well the subheading, "Why NOW Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion" and more importantly he convinced me. Thank you Gary this book Rocks and so do you!

Never Eat Alone: And Other Secrets to Success, One Relationship at a TimeNever Eat Alone: And Other Secrets to Success, One Relationship at a Time by Keith Ferrazzi

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is an absolute MUST READ! Keith Ferrazzi takes the time in this book to walk you through his path to great success in business and finance! He unpacks the things he did wrong and the lessons he learned from them. He shares how each of the people in his life have made an impact upon his life. Most of all though he lays out the absolute need to serve people one person at a time in whatever capaity you are able.

You will also learn much about "The Art of Communication" and interpersonal skills. When you are done you will understand the title and I believe you will make an effort from that day on to, Never Eat Alone.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls (Quirk Classics: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls by Steve Hockensmith

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This was a nice prequel but there were details that were slightly askew of the original novel especially where Lady Catherine is concerned. Though as a whole I loved the tale. The preist was a bit on the odeous side but such is life in the P&P era...

If you enjoyed the first book you will not be disappointed by this novel.
